I tried this recipe in 2000 on an Easter Sunday. My friend Candi gave it to me because she knew how much I loved mango chutney. This glaze is delicious and the leftovers make incredible ham sandwiches which is the whole reason I even buy ham in the first place!
1 fully cooked, spiral-cut smoked ham (I buy the one at Costco)
2 garlic cloves
1 8-oz. jar mango chutney (I use Major Grey’s chutney)
½ cup Dijon mustard
1 cup brown sugar, packed
zest of 1 orange
¼ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Place the ham in a heavy roasting pan.
Mince the garlic in a food processor fitted with the steel blade. Add the chutney, mustard, brown sugar, orange zest and orange juice and process until smooth. Pour the glaze over the ham and bake for 1 hour, until the ham is fully heated and the glaze is well browned. Serve hot or at room temperature.
